Primal Chaos
History
Before Time
Satanus, the Devil, was originally a most powerful deity who waged war against the other gods long before the birth of the mortal races in objection to their narrow viewpoints. However, he lacked support, and so was over come and cast into the void. Here his nature allowed him to create servants and allies from out of nothing, however they lacked form and mind and were pure gorp. During the Great Darkness, the thin wall protecting the World from the void was in places broken and the Devil and his allies and creations invaded. So deep was the darkness that no one realised that Satanus had returned.
Stygia encountered him first and was deceived by his fair-speech and countenance into allying with him. From their union were born several deities all of a dark and chaotic nature. When she saw such spawn she was horrified and disgusted and so turned on Satanus. He then seduced Klute and her sister Engariel. Still chaos was ignored in the great fight between Light and Dark, but meantime Satanus, his hoard of Chaos creatures and his sons and daughters plotted and schemed. Finally Satanus took his revenge upon Stygia. In rage the Queen of Trolls turned upon this new menace even as the Chaos Wars opened with sudden surprise attacks by Satanus' offspring. Elsewhere it is related how individually Satanus' sons and daughters were hunted down. But finally Satanus was cornered by the Gods of Law and even as the Sun rose in the first dawn, he was cast back out into the void.
Since Time
Many worshippers of Satanus exist due to their being Tainted with Chaos. But some few dedicate themselves to spreading Chaos so diligently that they worship no other deity. These individuals form the cult of Primal Chaos, (Satanus is never mentioned by name).
Life After Death
Worshippers of Primal Chaos believe there is no Life after Death, claiming that Out of Chaos we are born, and into Chaos we Return
. Cultists do
not believe in Death Divints or Resurrection, and cannot be brought back to life by any method. Runepriests who die have been seen to collapse into a
pool of slime.
Runic Associations
Primal Chaos worshippers are only concerned with mastering the Chaos rune.
Nature of Cult
Primal Chaos worshippers are not in themselves evil and are certainly more trustworthy than other Chaos Cults. The cult shares Satanus' horror of regimentation and law, and feel constrained by their own bodies. Cultists seek freedom from all strictures and many have been known to throw themselves into the Chaos Void in a religious ecstasy.
Particular Likes and Dislikes
The cult abhors Law, but doesn't actually hate the Lawful cults, though individuals do fear Typhon, Viking, Rhadamanthus etc. Cultists generally
get on well with all other Chaos Cults. Others often find Primal Chaos cultists frivolous and prone to doing ridiculous things on a whim, this is
merely an expression of their philosophy through their actions, (doing the Right Thing
in any given situation is against their inner feelings).
Organisation
There is no organisation in this cult, Runepriests officiate in ceremonies but tend not to give orders and in any case are unlikely to be obeyed. Cultists will teach others spells and skills, but only in the interests of spreading chaos.
Centres of Power/Holy Places
The cult has no real power. A high concentration of worshippers can be found in the Chaos Marshes and the Chaos Sea. Holy Places include the Rent - the place where Satanus made his entry in the Great Darkness.
Holy Days and High Holy Days
Cultists revere Wildday, that in Disorder Week is deemed particularly holy.
Lay Membership
Any creature worshipping a chaos cult or merely ever wishing he was a chaotic is automatically a Lay Member. There are no benefits.
Initiate Membership
Any creature possessing a chaos feature is an initiate of Primal Chaos. Initiates who foreswear any other cult ties may have access to the cult benefits. Such an initiate can get spell teaching in any spell his Runepriest knows. This is by a special form of Spell Teaching whereby the initiate sacrifices one point of POW per point of spell. He can learn one spell per week by rolling his POW on a Holy Day or POW×3% on a High Holy Day. Initiates can also get training in any skill his superiors know for free, but must roll their POW as a percentage every week or there is something better for him to do. Skills include Brew Chaos Slime.
Brew Chaos Slime: Knowledge, Base 00%, Cost: 200/400/800/EXP
A skill by which a cultist can brew Chaos Slime by a process akin to fermentation from a variety of ingredients including mud, spit, excrement, etc.
He must start with one dose of Chaos Slime, a successful roll indicating that the quantity is doubled, a fumble that it is contaminated
and
spoilt. A failure means that no more can be brewed from that sample unless purified by a point of permanent POW. If there is no slime to hand, then
some can be created over the course of a season by diligently brewing ingredients from High Holy Day to High Holy Day with a point of permanent POW to
initiate the process and one point of Battlemagic POW per day per dose
of slime. Brew Chaos Slime is a Knowledge skill and costs the following.
Initiates must endeavour to spread chaos far and wide as much as possible. There are no other restrictions.
Runelord Membership - The Slimelords
A Runelord of Primal Chaos is a master of spreading Chaos by non-magical means. Although requirements are minimal, Runelords (or Slimelords as they
are often known both within and outside the cult), are very rare. Requirements are 15+ POW, 90% Brew Chaos Slime and any four other skills. Once the
requirements are fulfilled, the Initiate is a Runelord whether he wishes it or not. There is no ceremony. There are no restrictions other than that
the Slimelord must spread chaos wherever he goes, and is expected to provide the military solution
to Typhon and Viking. Runelords may not
attune iron. They can raise their skills above 100% and they now gain access to the reusable cult Runemagics on a non-reusable basis. If they gain the
necessary spells, they may create the Chaos-Void and Summon and Ally a Creature of Chaos as explained under Runepriests. There are no other benefits.
Runepriesthood - The Slimepriests
The Primal Chaos Slimepriest is a fulminating repository of Chaos. Most cultists aim for and become Runepriests. All that is required is 18+ POW. They gain access to the limited cult Runemagic. Their DEX skills are limited to DEX×5% and DEX may not be trained. A Runelord who becomes a Runepriest will have his DEX based skills maintained. Runepriests do not have allied spirits, instead they can ally a Creature of Chaos that they summon from the Chaos Void. They must take the first creature that steps-through. This summoning can only take place on a High Holy Day. Runepriests can also control unintelligent creatures of chaos by beating them in a POW vs. POW attack whilst casting the spell Command Chaos, they then can control the creature as other Runepriests control Elementals.
Runespell Compatibility
The Slimepriests have no access to Standard Runemagic and the Cult special Runemagic is also limited in quantity.
One Point Spells
Command Chaos: Range: 160m; Duration: Permanent; Non-Stackable; Reusable (See below)
The Runepriest can gain control of an unintelligent creature of chaos upon a successful POW vs. POW role. The control is similar to that over
elementals. If successful, the Priest can later relinquish his control over the creature and regain the spell, to he fails in his original attack
however, then the spell is lost and must be sacrificed for again.
Summon Creature of Chaos: Range: 160m; Duration: 15 mins; Stackable; Reusable
This spell summons one Creature of Chaos at random from a Chaos Void. The creature will appear on the round following the spell and is free to act
then. The creature can fight at DEX×5%. The creature will remain for 15 minutes, as will any remains, before vanishing in a whirling vortex of
the chaos void, unless it has been Allied or Commanded, in which case it becomes a permanent part of the world and the spell is non-reusable.
Intelligent creatures have no knowledge of the world and therefore require education
for their intelligence to prove useful.

Two Point Spells
Chaos Feature: Range: Touch; Duration: Instant and Permanent; Non-Stackable; Reusable
Causes the willing recipient to gain a chaos feature rolled randomly. The creature must roll CON×5% to avoid collapsing into a gorp. Also, any
non-broo must roll 1D100 and if the result is equal to less than the sum of his chaos feature×10% then he becomes a broo. A Runelevel may use this
spell non-reusably on himself without any danger of becoming a gorp on any High Holy Day.
Three Point Spells
Create Chaos Void Range: 10m; Duration: 15 mins; Non-Stackable; Reusable
Summons a wailing, moaning void to appear at the indicated spot. This is a direct portal to the Chaos Void, and anything thrown into it is irrevocably
lost. It is a popular way to sacrifice things in the cult. The spell allows the Runespell Summon Creature of Chaos to be used. This spell
cannot be used to attack directly as it takes a round to from with the aforementioned sound effects; however, creatures are vulnerable to being
knocked-back into it. Initiates may have one free divint as they fall in before they are lost forever. The void is stationary and so cannot be moved.
Subservient Cults
Spirit of Reprisal
There are no Spirits of Reprisal, but any Runepriest who leaves the cult will have to make all the saving throws for the chaos features he took.
